Before becoming a Congressman, Cox was the lawyer for swindler William C. Cooper and his company First Pension Corp, which took investors for over $130 million.

In testimony before the Senate Banking Committee, Cox appears to have lied to Senators about his involvement with First Pension and a legal settlement involving him and his law firm.

U.S. Senate,
Subject: Don't Confirm Rep. Chris Cox to the SEC
Dear [Lawmaker]:

Congressman Chris Cox should not be confirmed as Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Investors cannot count on Cox to be an aggressive watchdog.

In fact, as a private attorney, Congressman Cox represented convicted swindler William Cooper and his First Pension Corp. Cox misled regulators about the facts surrounding that corporate swindle, which cost investors as much as $130 million.

And as a Congressman, Cox has opposed important measures to clean up Corporate America.

Investors need to have confidence that the SEC is on their side and that its Chairman's ethics are beyond reproach. Cox's actions as a private attorney and his record in Congress should disqualify him from the post.
